YEAR 2067

These are difficult times. Global temperature has skyrocketed and kilometers of polar ice have melted, flooding coasts and rivers. Atmospheric changes have caused devastating environmental phenomena in areas that were previously unthought of, turning Earth into an increasingly inhospitable place.

Following the disappearance of many cities, there is an unprecedented movement of the populations inland. Great nations affected by the rise in water levels move to new lands in order to maintain their previous status. Less fortunate lands, on the other hand, are doomed to dissolution and their people must face their new exile situation in order to survive. Science and technology have advanced in leaps and bounds. Machines have progressed to the point where they can resolve many tasks, rendering manpower less and less necessary. This only widens social differences and the world is going through the biggest social gap in its history. A scenario of chaos, uncontrolled immigration, social revolts and armed conflicts drive the world's great powers to unite into one single state: The World Federation.

This new world power is characterized by their use of cutting-edge technology. Smart Cities abound, housing millions of people. Machines and robots do the hardest and most unpleasant work. The main goal of this union is to be strong enough to control the flow of immigrants and face the chaos that the entire world has fallen into. A new order, with a strong military force, is implemented on member states. Life inside the World Federation, although lived in overpopulated cities, is offset by the rise in technology and economic resources. Even those living in suburbia are confident that it is always better there than on the other side of the wall; behind this wall are the cities that were left outside of the World Federation:

Wet Lands

Enormous cities growing upwards and outwards without a pre-established order, where technology is not so present anymore. Shortages and poverty not only shape the landscape but also the lifestyle in these areas. Many of the "excluded" wish to be part of the rich and state-of-the-art world on the other side of the wall. Every day, thousands of people try to migrate illegally. Although migration policies are increasingly tough and strict, the cracks in the wall that allow the "excluded" to break through keep appearing. There is an increasing number of illegal inhabitants of the World Federation.

As a measure to guarantee the security and protection of the Status Quo, the World Federation creates the Andrana Project: the implantation of a nanochip in all its citizens. From this moment on, everything involving a person is linked to their nanochip: their identity, bank and medical details, properties, titles... everything.

Project Andrana is well received by the majority of the population, although many are opposed to its potential risks. Those who refuse the implant and automatically become persecuted delinquents known as "Ghosts". In this context, an old ideological movement begins to acquire strength and prominence: The Neoluddites.

Convinced that technology has a negative impact on people, their communities and the environment, Neoludites believe that social and ecological collapse condemns most of the world's population to live in misery. Although this ideology has been alive for years, its followers had just passively abandoned technology until the arrival of Project Andrana, after which they started to get organized to act as a group. Neoludites are disperse all over the world and they know no frontiers. There are different factions, some more pacifist and other more radical ones, determined to end the hegemony of the World Federation, which has taken technological evolution to the extreme. In time, some citizens of the World Federation will join this movement, tearing their nanochip off, becoming exiles and preparing to fight the system.

Constant confrontations between the World Federation and the Neoludites will shape the fate of humanity
